Clark State College shares its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan, aligned with the College's overall strategic plan, as well as its strategic enrollment management plan. The work of Dr. Clyde Pickett, a consultant to the College on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the framework of Transformational Leadership were integral to the formulation of the DEI plan.

He relays tips on how to moderate difficult conversations, provides reading recommendations, and discusses the positive outcomes from the book club he conducted in 2020.
SOCHE Signature Event: "Creating Safe and Inclusive Spaces for Students," on March 12, 2021, focuses on creating a safe space, building an inclusive classroom, the role of being an ally, and person-first language. Participants will leave the session with an action plan for next steps in supporting students from all backgrounds.
Now, with the post-COVID world upon us, is the time to revitalize workforce development strategies. The DEJI Systems Model provides a strategy for restructuring engineering curricular design, evaluation, justification, and integration. This model applies to other non-engineering educational programs and offers a coherent platform for integrating post-COVID efforts in teaching, engaging students, mentoring, and instituting agile workforce development programs.
SOCHE Signature Event: "Understanding Trauma: An Introduction," on Friday, January 29, 2021, with instructor, Pat Clark, examines what trauma is, the various types of trauma, how trauma impacts the brain, how trauma can mask itself, and how to help manage trauma. Pat Clark also discusses how our current traumatic event, the pandemic, can affect students and ourselves.
