Event Details

The Strategic Ohio Council of Higher Education (SOCHE) invites you to join an upcoming mental health webinar entitled “Mental Health: When Is It Time to Ask for Help?” Presented by Claire Ruberg, senior regional director of Clinical Services at Miami University Regionals, this webinar will be held at three different times this spring.

It is not uncommon to hear that our students, our colleagues, and our friends are struggling.  And if you are that student/colleague/friend that is struggling, you are in good company.  According to the CDC, depression affects approximately 16 million adult Americans every year, with many experiencing co-occurring anxiety disorders.

However, not all blues are depression and sometimes anxiety is the healthy response. How can you tell when you’re blue or stressed versus when it’s something more? In this session, we’ll be looking at ways to recognize when certain common symptoms may merit a referral. We’ll also talk about where we can send our students, our colleagues, and ourselves should we find we need more than just a shoulder to lean on.

This registration link is for session 3, which will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 12-1 p.m. ET. Each session is limited to 30 participants, so please register ONLY if you do plan to be at the session. This event is offered FREE of charge to personnel from SOCHE member institutions.

Join us for this time together and learn when it might be time to seek support for your or your student’s mental health.

Councils & Committees

SOCHE is dedicated to advancing higher education through active collaboration, resource and knowledge building, and effective professional development programs. To accomplish this, SOCHE administers 16 active Councils and Committees. The purpose of a SOCHE Council or Committee is to provide an opportunity for representatives from higher education to be a resource for one another, share information and best practices, identify common challenges, and, ultimately, broaden awareness of the resources, services, and activities in higher education. SOCHE is also dependent upon the Councils and Committees for substantial input on annual professional development programs.
