Event Details

With the U.S. Department of Justice extending the ADA Title II web accessibility compliance deadline to April 2027, institutions of higher education have additional time to prepare. However, the expectations remain unchanged, and the work required to meet them is both complex and ongoing.

The Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) invites you to join a virtual panel discussion on ADA Title II/Web Accessibility on Friday, May 1, from 10–11:30 a.m. ET via Zoom.

This session offers an opportunity to take a proactive approach to compliance by building understanding, identifying key challenges, and learning from peers and experts already engaged in this work. Members of the Ohio Digital Accessibility Working Group will address common questions, share practical strategies, and highlight resources to support institutional efforts, now and in the years ahead.

Panelists include:

  • Jill Bateman — Digital Accessibility Coordinator, Ohio University
  • Susan Boland — Associate Director, Robert S. Marx Law Library, University of Cincinnati
  • La Tasha Simms — Senior Digital Accessibility Analyst, Ohio State University
  • Doug Flower — IT Accessibility Specialist, Kent State University
  • Sean Poley — Executive Director, AccessMU Center, Miami University

The session will be recorded and made available afterward. If you need accommodations or support accessing the recording, please contact Mindy Claggett at SOCHE.

When: Friday, May 1, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. ET

Councils & Committees

SOCHE is dedicated to advancing higher education through active collaboration, resource and knowledge building, and effective professional development programs. To accomplish this, SOCHE administers 16 active Councils and Committees. The purpose of a SOCHE Council or Committee is to provide an opportunity for representatives from higher education to be a resource for one another, share information and best practices, identify common challenges, and, ultimately, broaden awareness of the resources, services, and activities in higher education. SOCHE is also dependent upon the Councils and Committees for substantial input on annual professional development programs.
