Senior Staff Accountant:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing organization. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who enjoys working independently while collaborating with leadership and other departments.

Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting and audits, and supporting the organization’s overall financial health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related accounting functions.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Assist with annual audits.
  • Monitor cash flow and support budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Prepare financial reports and presentations for management and the Board of Directors.
  • Support grant reporting as applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with SAGE accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Audit preparation and coordination.
  • Budget development and financial analysis.
  • Payroll and benefits accounting.
