The Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) invites you to gather on Friday, June 5, for “Navigating Change: Centers for Teaching & Learning in the Age of Transformation.” This event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cedarville University’s Stevens Student Center.

As institutions navigate evolving policies, resource constraints, accessibility updates, and shifting faculty needs, Centers for Teaching and Learning are uniquely positioned to lead through change. This in-person convening is designed specifically for CTL directors, instructional designers, faculty developers, and campus partners who are shaping the future of teaching and learning in a time of transformation.

What to Expect

Keynote: Leading Through Change
The day begins with a keynote focused on navigating institutional change with clarity and purpose, setting the tone for collaborative problem-solving and strategic action.

Interactive Workshop Tracks
Participants will engage in morning and afternoon workshops tailored to the most pressing challenges facing CTLs today:

  • Preparing for Title II and accessibility updates
  • Supporting contingent faculty professional development
  • Building meaningful community among faculty
  • Maximizing impact with limited resources

Each session is designed to foster practical strategy-sharing, peer learning, and actionable takeaways that teams can bring back to their campuses.

Regional Panel Conversation
A featured panel will explore the broader changes reshaping faculty and student experiences across higher education, offering diverse institutional perspectives and forward-looking insights

Peer Reflective Practice
The day concludes with a structured reflective session, allowing participants to synthesize learning, identify next steps, and strengthen cross-institutional connections

This event is ideal for CTL teams who want to think strategically, share openly, and build regional partnerships that strengthen teaching and learning across our campuses. Join colleagues from across the Midwest for a focused, practical, and forward-thinking day dedicated to the evolving role of Centers for Teaching and Learning.

To accomplish this, SOCHE administers 16 active Councils and Committees. The purpose of a SOCHE Council or Committee is to provide an opportunity for representatives from higher education to be a resource for one another, share information and best practices, identify common challenges, and, ultimately, broaden awareness of the resources, services, and activities in higher education. SOCHE is also dependent upon the Councils and Committees for substantial input on annual professional development programs.
