You are invited to join SOCHE for a virtual lunch and learn entitled “Bridging Support: Strategies for Student Engagement and Success,” on Wednesday, Jan. 21, beginning at 12 p.m. ET. The session will be presented by Valerie McLuckie, Josh Matos, and Joshlin Lawson Gullett from Franklin University.
In today’s evolving higher education landscape, fostering student engagement and success requires more than any one department’s efforts — it demands intentional collaboration and tailored support to best reach students. In this session, we’ll offer a dynamic look into how a few departments such as Academic Advising, Career Development, and Human Resources can work holistically to meet students where they are.
This session will provide attendees with real-world strategies for effective communication, student-centered outreach, and support models that span multiple touchpoints in a student’s academic journey. Participants will gain insight into the unique yet interconnected roles of each department and how collaborative efforts can break down silos, reduce barriers, and increase student access to vital resources as well.
Session participants will be able to:
- Identify effective communication strategies tailored to wide student populations.
- Describe the roles of Academic Advising, Career Development, and HR in supporting student success.
- Analyze how cross-departmental collaboration enhances student engagement and development.
- Understand how collaborative efforts between departments can reduce barriers for student achievement.
By exploring practical examples and proven best practices, attendees will walk away with actionable ideas to enhance student engagement, improve retention, and align academic, career, and personal development efforts. This session offers valuable tools and perspectives for professionals in student affairs, advising, or administrative support to strengthen their approach to student success. Click to register now!
