Sound the Alarm. Save a Life

Shift 1: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Shift 2: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Save lives by helping install smoke alarms and share fire safety information across designated neighborhoods in Dayton and Southwestern Ohio.

SOCHE and Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross are teaming up once again for Sound the Alarm. Sound the Alarm is a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation program designed to save lives. Every day, seven people die in home fires, most in homes that lack working smoke alarms. Sadly, children and the elderly disproportionately lose their lives.

The partnership is meant to tap into the thousands of faculty, staff, and students at SOCHE member schools and build a stronger volunteer base for the Red Cross and for the region. Cassie Barlow, SOCHE President, said, “SOCHE is very excited to work with the Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross to serve our community. Our regional colleges and universities are committed to providing learning experiences to students through community engagement. This partnership is a good way to build persistent student engagement as we want Sound the Alarm to be one of many events where we partner with the community to make our region a better place.”
