Student Research Program
SOCHE’s Student Research Program provides research internships
for approximately 70 undergraduate and graduate science and engineering
students at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in the Materials and
Manufacturing Directorate and the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Students benefit both academically and financially by working in
state-of-the-art laboratories with top professionals in their field.
Additionally, they can use this experience for senior projects,
cooperative education and graduate research. The Air Force receives
the benefit of top students who bring energy and new ideas to research
projects.

hour, depending on academic class standing – sophomore – Ph.D.

Academic Majors
The academic majors most commonly requested are:
- Engineering – most areas of concentration, but primarily Bio-Medical, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Materials, Mechanical, and Engineering Physics
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Computer Science
Projects become available on a regular basis, year-round, so it is important to have your application on file with us.
Requirements for Employment
- Sophomore through Ph.D. student
- Degree-seeking student in good academic standing
- Ability to work year-round
- U.S. citizen
