New SOCHE Talks Program

January 11, 2011 - Dayton, Ohio

New SOCHE Talks Program Shares Local Knowledge from Higher Ed

The Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) will launch its new program "SOCHE Talks" on January 16, 2011. Inspired by the TED Talks (www.ted.com), SOCHE Talks will enlighten the world with knowledge from primarily higher education in southwest Ohio. Each talk is approximately 10 to 15 minutes in length on a unique topic that reflects the "wealth and diversity of knowledge and research emanating from the region's numerous colleges and universities," according to Sean Creighton, executive Director of SOCHE. All of the SOCHE Talks will be available for viewing online on SOCHE TV at www.soche.org. Select episodes will also air the third Sunday of the month on the radio program YSO Weekend, 10:30am, WYSO, 91.3 FM.

The SOCHE Talks program has been developed in collaboration with the area colleges and universities, and also with local public television, ThinkTV Network, and public radio, WYSO. Neenah Ellis, General Manager of WYSO, said that "WYSO is pleased to collaborate with SOCHE and to be able to present these talks on our airwaves and website. We know our listeners will benefit from hearing this stunning variety of ideas by some of the Miami Valley's best thinkers" and David Fogarty, President and CEO of ThinkTV added, "ThinkTV is the most widely used non-profit informational, educational and cultural service in Southwest Ohio. This collaborative project with SOCHE is a perfect example of how we help advance educational and cultural programming on air, online, and in the classroom."
