We all have stress…however, there comes a point when stress can become debilitating. Don’t go there! Techniques of breathing, journaling, imagery, and more will be experienced so you will leave with at least one helpful hint that works for you.
Managing for Dummies: Supervising Student Workers
Robin Gagnow, Baldwin-Wallace College
Supervision is the cornerstone of effective office management, but very few office mangers have been trained in this area. A lot of what we have learned is by trial and error. After this session, you will have learned some new and exciting techniques to help you be a better supervisor. Lean how to motive your student staff to bring out the best in them.
The Leadership Challenge
Kate Porubcansky, Otterbein College
This session will give an overview of The Leadership Challenge. This is a popular leadership theory that is used on many college campuses. In addition to learning about the theory, participants will be able to take the inventory to determine their own leadership strengths. There will also be interactive brainstorming on how to maximize your leadership strengths and understand working with those around you.
Hand-made Cards and Gift Tags
Kate Porubcansky, Otterbein College
This will be a fun and creative session! Nothing says you care more than a hand-crafted note card or gift tag. Participants will learn basic card-making techniques and also use those same techniques to make custom gift tags. No experience necessary, come express your creative energy!
Recognize, Reduce, Relax: Becoming A Stress Survivor
Tracy Benner, Otterbein College
Have you watched the television show Survivor and thought how nice it would be to sit on a tropical beach for a few weeks? Experience this interactive session and learn about the causes of stress, which kinds of stress can be beneficial, how to reduce negative stressors and relax as you become a stress survivor!
Paper Crafting Projects for the Everyday Office!
Alexandra Kimball, Wittenberg University
Have you ever found yourself in need of that “special” and personal touch for a co-worker or someone on campus? Do you find yourself searching in the dark recesses of your desk for a last minute card to give? If your answer is “yes,” or if you feel the need for a creative and fun outlet today. Plan to attend this session! You will leave with a completed interactive card, gift tags and wealth of ideas to stretch your creativity! (Limited Seating)
Facebook.com: Friend or Foe
Tim Bessler, College of Mount St. Joseph
Building community on the college campus of the 21st century requires higher education administrators, faculty and staff to be familiar with on-line communities such as “Facebook.” The purpose of this session will be to discuss the challenges and opportunities these “social networking communities” present to campus community building. Furthermore this session will present strategies used on one campus to address inappropriate use of these sites.
