The Faculty Awards Conference is both a professional development opportunity as well as an awards ceremony that recognizes full-time and part-time faculty that have performed outstanding work in their field. The conference is open to all those interested in the subject matter, while the awards luncheon honors faculty from SOCHE institutions.
This year's featured speaker is Dr. Alan Kalish, Director of Faculty and TA Development and adjunct assistant professor of Education Policy and Leadership at The Ohio State University. Dr. Kalish previously served as the founding director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at California State University, Sacramento, and associate director of the Teaching Resources Center at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he also earned his Ph.D. in English. His research interests include evaluation of university teaching, and how people negotiate the transition from graduate school to faculty lives. His publications include articles on these topics, as well as on other issues in college teaching.
The focus of Dr. Kalish's presentation will be on using feedback to improve teaching, a topic of interest brought to SOCHE from its Faculty Development Committee.
Registration Fee: The conference fee is $75 for members and $100 for non-members.
Who should attend: chief academic officers, deans, chairs, faculty and interested administrators.
