SOCHE is delighted to bring Dr. Robert Sevier back to the region to share his research, knowledge, and expertise. Dr. Sevier has more than 25 years of leadership experience in strategic thinking and planning, integrated and brand marketing, market research, and student recruiting. His innovative work has been featured at hundreds of professional conferences as well as in higher education's major marketing publications. This Special Topics Forum will focus on two areas:
Major Trends
Updated annually, this session will explore how today’s rapidly changing marketplace will impact colleges’ and universities’ ability to recruit students and raise dollars. It will examine the major demographic and social characteristics of tomorrow’s students and review how their educational needs and expectations are evolving. The presentation will also outline the college-choice characteristics of most interest to these students, pinpoint the majors most in demand, and highlight the recruiting and marketing strategies—including technology and the Internet—to which students are most likely to respond. Next, we will take a look at the changing role—and expectations—of donors. The presentation will conclude with a quick review of how changes in the marketplace and academia have impacted leadership and management in higher education.
Top 10 Marketing Mistakes
What are the 10 biggest mistakes made in marketing and recruiting? How do you know if your institution is guilty? How can you avoid making the same mistakes in the future? What are the most overlooked keys to success in recruiting and marketing efforts? This session will address these important questions and more. The top 10 will draw on some actual experiences and examples shared by colleagues at conferences over the last several years. The names, of course, will be changed to protect the innocent.
In addition, there will be the opportunity for private and public colleges and universities to ask questions for Dr. Sevier.
Registration Fee: the cost of the Special Topics Forum is $75 for SOCHE members and $100 for non-members.
